Unfortunately, bad things can happen when we drive in São Paulo
Here are some tips to avoid burglars that take advantage of slow moving cars and attack you on the street robbing your wallet and cell phone threatening occupants with a gun
- Dark windows are a good idea (check the cars and you will notice that almost all cars have dark windows) Easy to understand if you follow an old advice: "In Rome, do as romans do"
- When stopping at red lights, use the rigth lanes, EVEN WHEN THERE IS NOONE, thieves attack the driver on the left side of the road and chances are that, on the right side, you will not be chosen
- LEAVE WINDOWS CLOSED AT ALL TIMES
- Be very careful when you arrive home if you live in a house: it is upon entering their houses that people are attacked, waiting for the garage door to open. Do not stop if you see somebody, drive around the block and if someone seems suspicious, call 190 (free police emergency line)
