Can we avoid violence in Sao Paulo? Not all of it, but at least a few rules must be observed
  1. Never ever wear jewels or expensive watches
  2. Do not use your cell phone on the street: it could be stolen (use it inside the hotel and when on the street, keep it in your pocket)
  3. Dress casually
  4. Understand that there is no "safe"  time of the day, people could steal you phone at 3 in the afternoon
